Self Motivation Tips We Can All
Use
What drives people to succeed when others fail? Is self
motivation only for the “go getters”? It may come as a surprise
to many people that even the most influential people have days
when they get out of bed and don’t feel motivated. How do those
people stay focused and driven towards achieving what they
want? In the following paragraphs, you will read everyday tips
that anyone can use to keep the spark going.
Make a Goal
This doesn’t have to be complex. Making goals just depends on
your desires. Goal setting is one of the most popular ways to
develop self motivation. By setting a goal, you have come to a
decision on what you want to accomplish. Motivation in this
case, can come from wanting to see a goal achieved. For some
people though, setting a goal isn’t enough. They face issues
with staying on task and following through to the goal.
Do Some Reading
Across the world, people find that reading motivational,
inspirational, or humorous quotations can help to inspire their
self motivation, and often keeps them focused and driven. If
reading other people’s funny and inspirational excerpts isn’t
for you, then make up your own. If you have a goal, it can help
to write it down and post it somewhere you can see it every
day. For instance, if you want to stick to your diet write your
goal weight on a magnetic dry erase board and put it on the
refrigerator. When you are tempted to sneak one last piece of
cheesecake, you might think twice when you can see your goal in
front of you. Maybe you just need a daily pick me up. Write
down that unique saying grandma always said, and whenever you
need self motivation, take it out and read it. You’ll feel
refreshed and moved, and you will fondly remember someone you
love.
Switch Gears
Have you ever been involved in something and suddenly found
that it no longer interests you? Don’t worry - you are not the
only person to experience this lack of self motivation. At one
point or another, everyone finds that the task they are doing
to goal they are trying to reach no longer holds their
interest. When you find yourself experiencing a lack of passion
for a task that once held your interest, it’s okay to work on
something else. Getting involved in a new project or other task
even for a short while can reignite the motivation that you had
been missing.
Reward Yourself
Occasionally, a reward for obtaining a halfway mark in reaching
a goal can be just the ticket to keeping self motivation from
becoming discouraging. Everyone likes to be rewarded for
something they have done well. So, whether you are trying to
catch up on chores, your to-do list, or lose weight, find a way
to reward yourself for working as hard as you have been. It
will increase your self motivation, and keep you happier in the
long run.
Look Within Yourself
Possibly one of the most important things
to think about when finding ways to keep your self motivation
in the forefront is to look inside you. Take a moment during a
time of day that is peaceful to meditate. Jot down your
thoughts about what keeps you motivated and reflect on times
when you’ve had a great deal of determination. When you think
back, you can come to realize that you have the motivation that
you need. Through looking to the person you are and taking what
you know and have experienced to reach and realize your goals
and ideas, you will become better at finding ways to achieve
self motivation.
