Womens Self Defense And Purse Snatching

Women's Self Defense and Purse Snatching

You are walking down the street by yourself and someone tries to pull your purse from your shoulder. What should you do? The following tips are given by women's self defense experts and by following them, you can save yourself from injury and maybe even from death. Purse snatching is a crime and this crime is usually committed by people under the age of 18. Women's self defense experts warn that holding your purse loosely in your hand are having away from your person, like in a shopping cart, is like putting a ten dollar bill on the sidewalk.

The harder it is for the perpetrator to see the prize, the chance of him picking you as the victim will be less. If you are walking and have your purse across your shoulder, it would harder than if you just had your hand bag in your hand. If a thief does try to grab your purse, you first reaction is to pull it closer into your body. This will only make the thief try harder and you could end up injuring yourself.

The first tip from women's self defense instructors is to try to shop with a friend. This friend can be of either sex an a would be thief usually thinks twice before they would attack two people instead of one. If you are alone, stay in well lit areas by walking close to street lamps and stores with overhead lights outside. Stay away from dark corners and alleys. A woman's self defense expert once said, "If you said you wouldn't be caught dead in a dark alley, your mistaken. Dead is actually is how you would be caught in that alley."

A good way to keep your valuables from being stolen is to fool your attacker. You do not even have to have a women's self defense class for this one. Just do not put anything of value in your purse. Carry your credit cards and large bills in your jacket pocket or in your sock. Another trick is to carry your stuff in a fanny pack under your jacket or short. The thief will grab your decoy pocket book and you will still have your valuable in tact. The only reason you would have to use women's self defense techniques is if the thief attacks your person directly.

Do not carry any dangerous weapons in your purse like guns or knifes. The thief could use the weapons against you. Women's self defense does little good when your own gun or knife is pointing at you. Also carrying weapons in your purse might be against the law. It would also be sad if that weapon was stole from you and another person was hurt with it. Also make sure that there are no identifying objects like address and phone numbers in your purse. The thief could easily mark you as a future target if he knows where you live. If your purse is stolen, cancel all of your credit cards and checks immediately. It only takes a little time for a thief to steal your identity.
