Anger Management for Men Is No Different Than Anger Management
For Women
Many feel than men loose their temper more often than women and
hence anger management for men would be different from the one for women. Nothing could be further from truth.
Anger has many shades and attacks sometimes without warning. Treatment for anger however, is more type specific
than sex-specific.
Anger Management for Men Is A Bit More
Difficult
Men find it more difficult to control anger than women. Women tend
to remain in control even when they are at the peak of irritation, while men seem to loose it right in the first
few laps. Hence, anger management for men looks more difficult, though it is not so. As a matter of fact, men need
to be made aware that they are becoming angry and hurtful. Once this is successful anger management for men becomes
relatively easy.
On the other hand, women are more sensitive and know when they are
losing control to anger. However, once they feel anger, it is very difficult for women to fight their emotions.
This difference is biological. Men stay in control and can bottle things up if they are aware of their emotions;
while women need to release their emotions. This is why anger management for men will concentrate on recognition of
emotions while for women; it will concentrate on controlling the negativity of these
emotions.
Other than that, anger management for men is not different from
that of women’s. It teaches one to recognize and control anger, showing the path towards happiness and contentment.
It teaches you to understand and tolerate the failing of others and forgive your own. Many times, anger stems from
the fact that one cannot forgive themselves in the first place. This results in guilt feelings, which generates
feelings of frustration and unhappiness – just the right ingredients for anger.
Anger management is a long term process, which many times becomes a
way of living. It is important to recognize anger early, before it can turn ugly and mess up your relationships and
life. The exercises that are taught will put you back into control – however, be forewarned that this is hard work
which involves a lot will power and commitment to conquer and eliminate it from your life. Anger management for men
is very effective when it is undertaken as a group exercise where family, friends and well-wishers converge in to
help.
